@nuskafrombrooklyn: Founder Bringing Brooklyn Style to Instagram

Brooklyn has no shortage of Instagram accounts talking about the borough, but @nuskafrombrooklyn stands out for actually building something with it. Her bio reads “Founder of @laughingladiesfashion,” alongside “Brooklyn Culture & Commentary” and “Community, Fashion & Events,” and that combination is the real story here: a fashion entrepreneur based in Flatbush, Brooklyn, who uses her personal account to grow both her own following and the community around her brand. At the time of writing she has around 28,300 followers, a number that keeps climbing as her content mixes borough humor with brand-building, and her posting history goes back years, with yearly “looks” highlights on her profile dating to 2018.

What she posts and how

The account runs on two tracks that reinforce each other. On one side, there are short, POV-style reels rooted in everyday Brooklyn life — a recent one shows her at a neighborhood playground, joking with a kid about “how we used to swing back in the day,” the kind of relatable, fast-turnaround content that travels well on the explore page and racks up tens of thousands of likes on a single clip. On the other side, there is Laughing Ladies Fashion, the community and fashion brand she founded, which shows up on her feed through recap-style reels covering the events she and her team attend: brand activations, wine tastings, fashion presentations, photography meetups, and creator networking nights across New York City. It is a founder’s account as much as a creator’s account, and the posting style — quick, captioned, video-first — matches how a fashion entrepreneur documents her own momentum rather than just modeling product.

Why it works

What makes the mix work is that neither side of the account feels like filler. The Brooklyn-culture reels give her a recognizable, local voice that a purely brand-focused page would lack, while the Laughing Ladies Fashion recaps prove the fashion and networking side is real activity, not just a bio line. Followers get a founder who is visibly present in her own city, at her own events, rather than a polished but distant brand persona — a distinction that matters in a fashion-entrepreneurship niche where audiences increasingly want to see the person behind the label rather than a stock-photo aesthetic.

It also helps that the two tracks are aimed at slightly different outcomes. The personal, humor-driven reels are built for reach — new viewers who have never heard of Laughing Ladies Fashion can still laugh at a swing-set joke and follow the account on the strength of that alone. The brand recaps, by contrast, are built for credibility with anyone who does click through to the bio: they show, month by month, that the “founder” title is backed by actual rooms she is walking into, from an H&M event to an Adobe activation, rather than a claim with nothing behind it.

What you can learn from this profile

A few takeaways stand out for anyone building a fashion or lifestyle brand on Instagram. First, pairing a personal, local voice with brand content gives both sides more reach than either would get alone — the culture reels pull in new viewers who then discover the fashion brand through the profile they just followed. Second, recap-style posts (“May was a good month”) are an easy, low-effort way to turn a month of real-world networking into shareable content instead of letting it disappear into stories that vanish after 24 hours. Third, tagging a collaborator account, as she does on her Laughing Ladies Fashion posts, extends reach to both audiences at once without any extra production work. Fourth, staying specific to one place — Brooklyn, and Flatbush in particular — makes an account easier to remember than a generic “fashion creator” page competing with thousands of similar bios.

There is also a lesson in pacing here: not every post has to serve the brand directly. Mixing pure entertainment (a swing-set bit that has nothing to do with fashion) with brand-forward content (a monthly events recap) keeps the account from feeling like a nonstop advertisement, which is often what causes founder-run accounts to plateau. For anyone starting from a similar place — a real local presence and a genuine brand to build — that balance between “just being yourself online” and “showing the business is real” is worth studying.

For founders who are still building that first wave of engaged followers before the brand account has its own momentum, a service like a boost to your Instagram follower count can help a new page look active enough to earn its first real interactions while the content strategy catches up.
